Information on Low-Fee Psychotherapy
Vacancies sometimes come available in the Eastern region for adults who are seeking individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy but who may not be in a position to afford usual professional charges.
Low-fee treatment is offered by a number of nationally established psychotherapy training institutions, subject to a careful assessment by a senior psychotherapist appointed by the institution offering the vacancy. Treatment takes place under the auspices of that institution’s established Reduced Fee Psychotherapy Scheme.
To be eligible for the scheme, applicants usually need to be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months to 2 years of therapy at a frequency of two to four sessions per week, the frequency depending on the stipulations of the individual psychotherapy institution.
Treatment is provided by an experienced professional (for instance, a psychologist, doctor or counsellor) undertaking an advanced professional training in Psychoanalytic or Jungian Analytic Psychotherapy. Professional charges are agreed between the applicant and psychotherapist but generally range from around £10 per session to £25 per session depending on what the applicant can afford.
This is a highly worthwhile opportunity for an individual with limited financial means who is committed to explore personal psychotherapy to help resolve problems with their mental health and wellbeing, relationships and personal development.
